An individual who spiked candy with sedative and gave them to children at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two young males who were nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated materials including infant oil, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild notified the police about his concerns.
She stated the man continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
Mrs Prior explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police once more.
She said the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
