19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

However the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, took control to create a decider.

Moutet saved four early break points in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
